Affiliated Programs UNT-I Horizontal Bar Logo

An Affiliated Program is a study abroad program facilitated by an organization or program provider that has an official agreement with UNT. Each Affiliated Program is different; all of them, however, are designed specifically for US students. Students who participate in affiliated programs take courses from the university or institute associated with that program.

The application charge to register with an affiliate organization is $300. In addition, each affiliate organization will have its own program fee. Most affiliate organizations charge a comprehensive fee for participation, which typically includes housing, food, and tuition. Students are typically responsible for airfare and miscellaneous spending. Students should consult the specific affiliate organization’s website for detailed cost information.

The main difference between affiliated programs and exchanges is that students are not enrolled at UNT while on an affiliated program. Students participating in these programs take many of their courses at the affiliate’s “institute” or “center”. However, students with advanced language skills, most likely will take university courses at an associated university with students from the host country. The Study Abroad Office has approved all affiliated programs for academic rigor, safety, security, housing, and meals to determine if they meet UNT standards.

UNT financial aid can be used for these types of programs, in addition to Study Abroad scholarships, although these are not disbursed before the beginning of the study abroad term.
