Exchange Programs UNT-I Horizontal Bar Logo

An exchange program enables UNT students to attend a host university for a semester or year at about the same cost as at UNT, allowing you to participate fully in the life of a university abroad.

This option provides more cultural immersion than shorter term programs, and will also benefit second language acquisition. Exchange students enroll in host university courses as regular students and are responsible for all course work and examinations. Students usually live in university accommodations and become fully immersed in the culture of their host country.  The exchange option tends to be the most financially feasible, as students typically pay the equivalent of their semester at UNT plus airfare. UNT financial aid can be used for exchange programs, in addition to Study Abroad scholarships, although these are not disbursed before the beginning of the study abroad term.

Students participating in exchange programs pay UNT tuition and fees, just as if they were taking their classes at UNT. Grades from the exchange term will be transferred back to UNT and applied to students' ongoing GPA as transfer credit, meaning the grades do not factor into the students' ongoing GPA, but are calculated into the cumulative GPA at graduation.
In addition to airfares, students are also responsible for transportation, and other daily living expenses. In some cases the exchange programs cover housing and meals.
