Funding SourceUNT-I Horizontal Bar Logo

UNT students pay Student Service Fees that are collected by Student Accounting for each academic term that students attend UNT, which goes into an account managed by the Student Government Association (SGA).  SGA has generously awarded an allocation of these fees to a travel grant account administered by the UNT Study Abroad Office (SAO) exclusively for UNT degree-seeking students to use on approved programs abroad.  SAO must apply for this allocation each academic year and will post information on the availability of funding for subsequent years as soon as it is known.

Eligibility CriteriaUNT-I Horizontal Bar Logo

To be eligible, you:
  • Must be a degree-seeking student (undergraduate or graduate) at UNT enrolled in at least one UNT class in the 12 months preceding the term abroad.
  • Must participate in a UNT SAO approved credit-bearing study abroad program (out-of-country) or registered to do a pre-approved credit-bearing internship through SAO.
  • Be in good standing academically and with the Dean of Students Office.
  • Have a current FAFSA on file at the time of application and be eligible to receive UNT financial aid; International students must demonstrate financial need by providing additional supporting documents on request.
  • Must not have previously received a Travel Grant in their current academic career, i.e. undergraduate or graduate level.
  • Must have a 2.0 or higher cumulative UNT GPA at time of application and maintain it until your program start date.
  • Must NOT be a participant on the UNT Emerald Eagle Study Abroad Program.
All scholarships awarded are conditional upon your full participation in your study abroad program.  If you withdraw from your program, for any reason (voluntary or involuntary), all awards will be revoked. If your award is revoked after funds have been disbursed to you, SAO will put a hold on your UNT student account for the amount of the scholarship.
